Nursing and dermatological challenges in rural areas

Introduction:

Rural healthcare settings often require nurses to be adaptable and flexible due to limited resources and a wide scope of practice in addition to fostering adaptability in nursing personnel by exposing them to scenarios and case studies that reflect the realities of rural healthcare. Dermatological challenges in rural areas of Saudi Arabia are a growing concern including unique dermatological challenges and common dermatological conditions prevalent in rural areas such as skin infections, parasitic infestations, occupational skin diseases and environmental dermatoses.

Objective
  • Enhance the participants’ knowledge about the specific healthcare challenges prevalent in rural areas.
  • Equip healthcare providers with the necessary skills to overcome the challenges encountered in rural healthcare settings.
  • Identify the most common skin diseases that affect Saudi people living in rural areas and the factors that contribute to their prevalence.
  • Highlight the impact of skin diseases on the quality of life of people living in rural areas and the challenges they face in accessing healthcare.
